As a promotional tool to drive targeted traffic to your web site, article writing is considered one of the key tools that should be employed. Promoting your site via the use of fresh, new articles or those from article directories has become very popular and convenient. The popular search engines want new, creative material and content for their users who are very demanding. As such, the major search engines view the Internet as one huge resource for information just as Internet users consider it to be an enormous database. It is a good idea to understand what it is the search engines are looking for, so rewriting an article automatically makes it something the search engines want, unique content.

You may wish to write completely fresh, unique content articles in which case there are certain points you need to remember. Once you have determined a topic to write on you need to do some research and this is easily done online by entering a search phrase for your topic into your favorite search engine. Setting the article out correctly is paramount otherwise it will not flow so you will need the subject introduction which may highlight a particular problem, then a middle section explaining the subject more, finishing with a conclusion. The conclusion is a winding up of all the information you have just written and doesn't need to be more than about four to five sentences with most pieces of work approximately twenty to twenty five sentences long. To make the article more enjoyable to read, break it up into a few chunks or paragraphs, about four or more is OK and add a box at the end with your information and links so you will get the credit for the work.

You can easily write articles for yourself or for others and it can be a very profitable business as well as enjoyable. Let me tell you one of the secrets to writing successful articles. The easiest way to start is to write about something you already know because we all have special knowledge gained from our experience in life which we could pass on to others through an article or series of articles. If you would prefer not to write about your experiences, which would be a real waste, then why not write about smaller niche markets which can open up all manner of possibilities.

In order to excel at article writing, do not forget that it's imperative you use good writing methods to be successful in the long run. By writing a piece every day to get the feel of writing and learn to identify the common problems faced by every other writer will improve your style very quickly. Writing this regularly has worked well for most writers as practice makes perfect. These are obviously only my guidelines and have worked for me and may not suit everyone but it's important to remember that whatever method works for you, stick to them if you intend to write regularly.

Web Based Conferencing

I was a little bit apprehensive about first installing web based conferencing. It wasn't that it was prohibitively expensive or that I didn't think that we could use it, but I was worried about becoming too dependent on the new gadget. You see, we have gotten by without ever having a web based conference for years. As a matter of fact, we had few conference calls at all. I had seen businesses become completely dependent on web based conferencing systems, systems that were complex and sometimes failed. Many of these companies did perfectly well without the technology for a while, but once they got it, they couldn't do without it. I was afraid that if our Web conferencing software went off-line, we would be paralyzed.

Fortunately, we have a top-notch guy in IT. He assured me that the web based video conferencing program that we were using was extremely reliable, and that he would personally take responsibility for ensuring that it worked all the time. That is why I hired him – that willingness to step up to the plate and go the extra mile to make sure that things get done. Although it took a while to set up the web based conferencing software, once he did we were all eager to try it. We set up an experimental meeting with all of the various regional offices. We had a new sales policy and, rather than sending out an e-mail about it, we allowed our sales expert to give a lecture on it.

I was surprised by how much more effective it was. It is no secret that half of the people in the company never read the sales e-mails at all. They figure that they know how to do their jobs well enough without the new jargon and techniques. Once they were actually forced to sit and listen to it, however, I could tell that they were tuning in and picking up some useful tips. They asked intelligent questions that proved that they were listening, and helped illuminate the lesson further.

Since then, we have been using the web based conferencing on a weekly basis. Most of our most important communication still take place over e-mail or in person, but slowly web-based video conferencing is becoming a bigger and bigger part of our company. It allows us to check in on each other more thoroughly and communicate more efficiently, things that can only strengthen the company.
